SCHOOL GROWTH PLAN GOAL:
Writing is a foundational skill that empowers students to express themselves, think critically, and communicate effectively in both French and English. As part of our ongoing commitment to literacy, École Aubrey has shifted its primary focus from reading to writing development across Kindergarten to Grade 7.
Our goal is to ensure that all students are developing their writing skills in a way that maximizes their individual potential. Students who are meeting and exceeding grade-level expectations will be supported in deepening their writing abilities, while those not yet meeting expectations will receive targeted instruction and interventions to help them grow as confident, skilled, and expressive writers.
This focus aligns with the Burnaby School District and the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care’s literacy goals, as well as the province’s renewed commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all learners. It reflects the broader provincial emphasis on building strong foundational skills in communication, critical thinking, and language development, while fostering a lifelong love of learning and supporting inclusive, equitable education for every student.
